After landing and making it through customs with A LOT of donations, we headed to the Masorti Movement headquarters in Lod. There we heard from Rakefet Ginsburg, the CEO of the Masorti Movement in Israel, about the important work that Masorti Rabbis and communities are doing to support each other and displaced Israelis during this time. (More on that in the next post). After that we heard from Yair Golan, a retired major general, who on 10/7 drove south to help and was able to rescue six people from the music festival during the Hamas attack.
After that we headed to the incredible organization Brothers and Sisters in Arms. This was the protest movement before 10/7 who the day after channeled all of their funds towards their new non-political mission to support displaced families from the south and soldiers. I dropped off one of our donation bags with them and they were grateful to receive it. Thanks again to everyone who donated and to John and our teens who went shopping for everything! Their distribution center meets in an underground parking lot (that’s all the supplies you see in the pictures) so that their work is not interrupted by having to run to shelters when rockets are fired. We met some amazing people who are working hard to meet the needs of Israel now.
