Sanhedrin: Justice in This World and The Next
Led by Rabbi Lindemann and Rabbi Katz
Is the section of Sanhedrin a logical continuation of the themes in the tractate? Or does this material constitute something totally different - an addendum that stands on its own? Clearly, it raises some fascinating topics: resurrection, messianic redemption, and the world to come. How were these ideas understood at the time of the Talmud? How should we understand them today? The conclusion of the Sanhedrin also raises questions about the intersection of politics and religion, as well as the nexus of communal and individual responsibility. This is a deep dive into philosophy and theology.
