An Evening with Jessica Steinberg, Times of Israel Arts and Culture Editor

Tuesday, May 13, 2025 15 Iyyar 5785

7:00 PM

Join us for an evening with Times of Israel journalist Jessica Steinberg, who will reflect on her return to hard news coverage after years of reporting on arts and culture. In the wake of October 7, Jessica has been reporting, writing, and podcasting about survivors, hostages, and those who were killed.

As the war continues to unfold, artists and musicians are responding in powerful and deeply personal ways. Jessica will also share music and art created in the weeks and months after October 7, offering a glimpse into how Israeli society is processing and responding to its new reality.

Israel Today and Tomorrow is a series of thought-provoking speakers to deepen our understanding of Israel's challenges, opportunities, and hopes.  Generously sponsored by Gigi & Brad Schwartz.

This event is presented by Temple Beth Sholom, Kol Ami, and Congregation Beth El.

About our Guest:
Jessica Steinberg is the long-time arts and culture editor for The Times of Israel, who pivoted to coverage of the hostages taken captive to Gaza during the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7, speaking to their families, those who have been released, covering their stories in articles and the Daily Briefing podcasts.

A former New Yorker, she has lived in Israel for the last 28 years and has reported on the conflict and situation there, focusing on how Israeli society pivots and handles war in art, music, TV and film, culinary arts, and design.

Jessica lives in Jerusalem with her husband and twin teenage sons and has also delved into children's book writing. Her first book, Not This Turkey, became a PJ Library selection, and she is currently working on a series about kids at a Jewish summer camp.
