Rabbi Steven Lindemann and Cantor Jen Cohen

The Gwozdziec Synagogue was one of Poland’s many wooden destroyed by the Nazis. A replica of it has been constructed in the Polin Museum in Warsaw. Our TBS group visited on the first day of our trip. This Synagogue is about Remembrance.

Later that day we visited the Nozyk Synagogue, the only Warsaw synagogue to survive the Holocaust.
This synagogue is full of life. It has a school with 253 students and it is helping a whole generation of young people to rediscover their Jewish roots and heritage. This is a story about Renewal.Rabbi Michael Schudrich, the Chief Rabbi of Poland, met with us and told us the inspiring stories of the Renewal of Nozyk and Jewish life in Poland.
It was also the renewal of an old friendship.

The Tale of Two Synagogues is really about three. Through our visit and contributions, TBS becomes part of both Remembrance and Renewal.
